Restorative tea ceremony

Restorative tea ceremony

In this program, a Kampo therapist will identify your distinct body pattern, the characteristics of your body energy, by examining your tongue. According to the results, the therapist will add some Kampo medicine herbs to the tea ceremony. A combination of Green tea and Kampo medicine is known to have positive effects on the body.

Patterns in Kampo

Kampo therapy has a systematic method of diagnosis and treatment. The diagnosis is called a “sho” or a pattern.

In this program, the therapist will distinguish your pattern (hot or cold) by a tongue examination.

Then herbs will be selected based on your pattern and added to your tea.

Sencha tea ceremony

There are two kinds of Japanese traditional tea ceremony.

Most people know the “Matcha” tea ceremony which uses green tea powder.

The other, “Sencha” tea ceremony is less known by the world and it uses tea leaves.

Sencha was brought to Japan in the mid-17th century and was widely adopted by Japanese citizens. Approximately, 80% of all tea produced in Japan is Sencha.

Long-term consumption of tea catechins through green tea could be beneficial against high-fat diet-induced obesity and type II diabetes and could reduce the risk of coronary disease (Chacko SM et al, 2010).

Additionally, green tea is richer in antioxidants compared to other forms of tea and is composed of polyphenols, caffeine, minerals, and trace amounts of vitamins, amino acids, and carbohydrates. The benefits can be varied such as anti-photoaging, stress resistance, and neuroprotective and autophagy properties(Prasanth MI et al,2019).

In this ceremony, you will experience Sencha served in a traditional manner accompanied with sweets that compliment the flavor of the tea.
