Meganebashi Bridge

Meganebashi Bridge

Meganebashi, or Spectacles Bridge (megane means spectacles in Japanese), is one of the top 10 most famous tourist destinations in Nagasaki. It was built in the 17th century and is the oldest stone arch bridge in Japan. Meganebashi Bridge is well-known for not only its unique “spectacles” shape formed by the reflection of its two arches in the water but also the heart stones located inside and nearby the bridge. It is said that if you find the heart stones, your wishes of eternal love, happiness, and luck will all come true. That is the reason why almost all tourists who come to Nagasaki try to find the heart stones!
