Frederick Ringer & Ringer Hut

Frederick Ringer & Ringer Hut

Despite what you may have heard, Frederick Ringer (1838–1907) who was a British merchant in Nagasaki during the late 19th to early 20th century has no relationship with the chain of restaurants, @ringerhut_jp. He didn’t make Sara-udon (crispy noodles coated with a savory, sticky source) or Chanpon (ramen-like noodles made with various ingredients such as pork, seafood and vegetables), yet he is still a very influential man in Nagasaki’s history. His achievements are showcased at Glover Garden in Nagasaki City.
